Cyberbullying is a very serious issue among teens today. Cyberbullying can ruin many teenagers life and is one of the largest forms of bullying around. Cyberbullying is the use of the internet and related technologies to harm other people in a deliberate, repeated and hostile manner. Because of the amount of technology teens have today it is very easy to be a cyberbully. According to statistics most cyberbullying happens on instant messaging over the internet.
In 2006 one survey said that 42 percent of middle school children have been cyberbullied and 38 percent have been threatened while online. There are many laws that prevent teenagers from cyberbullying one another. In Arkansas in 2007 they passed a law that allowed school officials to punish children for cyberbullying even if the bullying didn't occur on school grounds which gave the schools a lot more freedom to punish the bullies. In New York state the government created a system that investigates cyberbullying claims so that the can prosecute the culprits.
